Notes

Johan Lenox is a singer, composer, and producer, who marries lush orchestral tracks with lyrics about growing up in America during the end of the world. Here's a recent session he performed for WNYC's Soundcheck.

In 2022 he toured North American as the opener for singer 070 Shake and in 2023 he toured Europe and the United Kingdom as the opener for progressive metal band Polyphia. On both tours he performed his own songs alongside a violin section dressed in apocalyptic duck-hunter gear, including 15 minutes of his own classical music as an encore at most shows.

Outside of his work as a solo artist, Johan has composed or produced for people including Kanye West, Travis Scott, Big Sean, Shawn Mendes and Selena Gomez, and been lauded with numerous awards for his work as a classical and musical theater composer. Johan’s debut album WDYWTBWYGU featured artists including 070 Shake, Lancey Foux, Mr. Hudson, and Kaycyy.

In 2022 he released a more experimental collaborative project with composer Ellen Reid and conductor Yuga Cohler called isomonstrosity—“a pandemic symphony in rap and avant-pop" which was praised as an "album to listen to right now" by Pitchfork, receiving notices from the New York Times, KCRW and The FADER among many others.
