Buke and Gase rack up praise, tour North America, Europe & the UK

Did you know that Buke and Gase are touring throughout March, April & May? (They'll start in the UK & Europe, then cover most major cities in North America.) Did you know they released their first new album in over five years about a month ago? (It's called Scholars.) Did you know that people. Seem. To like. It? (More media hype below.)

Do people still say ICYMI? Well ICTD (in case they do) we wanted to give a sum-up of the big splash Buke and Gase's SCHOLARS album made when it was released earlier this year. First it received the second lead review in Pitchfork on the album's day of release: "The melodies are huge, unfurling as multi-colored banners in the sky. ... The production here snaps with the clarity and force of stadium-sized headbangers."

The praise cascaded from there. It was included on NPR Music's 7 Albums You Should Hear Now podcast — received large features in influential tech site Ars Technica (Conde Nast) & arts site The Creative Independent (Kickstarter) — earned reviews in the 'big 3' UK music mags (Mojo, Uncut, Q) — and notices in more digital outlets than we could count with a series of 010001011001s. Key tracks like "Derby" and "No Land" made some healthy inroads onto the radio airwaves with a top 50 position on the NACC chart. Finally, The National's Aaron Dessner likes it so much he was willing to subject his voice to auto-tune. *phew*:

All the @s are Instagram handles which we trust you'll manage to navigate to even without them being hyperlinked. We've neglected to create them because, hey, if Instagram doesn't allow links to us, why should we link back?

All * dates are with Animals As Leaders & The Contortionist — which some people that know what "djent" and "progressive metal" mean are quite excited about. We understand at least one of those terms so guess that means we're excited too?

Oh yeah, surprise! Earlier today, we released a single edit of the album track "Grips" which is now streaming in all the places (and available as a download to Scholars Alliance members). Please revisit this earworm. It's now 20% shorter & 33% less experimental than the LP version! Hence, perfect for you playlist makers out there. Expect the release of more butchered and remixed versions of various album tracks to come in the near future.
