As the duo (sort of) explain the making of the video for this song:
"in a haze of social media outlets we got momentarily obsessed with Snapchatting our faces into bunnies or cats. our curiosity eventually drove us deeper into an avatar world when we discovered some apps which allowed us to create virtual versions of ourselves & play out short scenes with our funny fake little bodies — so we started compiling clips, and it turned into the video for 'Pink Boots,' which isn't far from a sonic avatar of ourselves anyway."
