This is a cover of the traditional holiday carol with lyrics based on "Christmas Bells" written in 1863 by the American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This version was sung by our pal Anais Mitchell and produced by longtime Brassland artist Thomas "Doveman" Bartlett.
Anais Mitchell says of this recording: "I’ve always loved this honest and uplifting song (“I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day”). The words were written (by Longfellow) long ago, but they ring true for anyone who has ever despaired for the world-- and then, suddenly, had their faith in it renewed. Love wins."
