Subject: 2 Moon Smile chamber opera interview on VPR Classical 9 am today!
To: Rachael Elliott
Dear friends,
We invite you to tune in to VPR Classical this morning (Wednesday) at 9 am to hear our live interview with host Kari Anderson. She'll be speaking with composer Padma Newsome about the upcoming world premiere of his "2 Moon Smile" p'opera. Pianist Cynthia Huard and bassoonist Rachael Elliott, who are performing in the project, will also join the conversation.
Then, on Friday and Saturday, join us for the long awaited and highly anticipated world premiere of "2 Moon Smile"! Performers include members of Clogs and Heliand Consort together with outstanding artists from Vermont, New York City, and Australia:
Mary Bonhag, soprano (Pink Lycra)
Clare Byrne, dance/chorus
Rachael Elliott, bassoon
Cynthia Huard, piano, keyboard
Susannah Keebler, dance/chorus
Thomas Kozumplik, percussion
Elisabeth LeBlanc, clarinet
Christine Meagher, dance/chorus
James Moore, guitars, mandolin
Padma Newsome, baritone (Shadow Guard)
Padma's music draws on classical, folk, minimalism, and aria traditions. His p'opera includes art song, chamber music, dance, folk songs, and what we call our "band" jams. Electric guitar meets glockenspiel meets mandolin meets clarinet meets voice meets body, all strung loosely together by a narrative about love, war, and healing.
